The people of the City seemed to cower down in fear They’d heard his name from distant lands but did not expect him here. "The Night, the Night, the Night" was all that they could say As one by one they watched him take the foolish ones away. A wise old seer sat on the road and cried to all who’d hear “Show him your gold ye’ foolish ones” he cried it loud and clear. “He does not kill simply for naught, but he comes with a plan Pay him for death, the gold he wants, make sure you understand” The Fates had forged this path for him to murder and to maim, But he was slyer than them all and put the Fates to shame. “Your calling is to prey on others” is what the fates did say Yes he would prey on others, but never without pay. So there amidst the City the silence did abound Except for clinking of coins as they fell against the ground. So as the blood dripped slowly, from beneath his hand He lifted up his voice across the darkened land. “Come forth to me downtrodden, your enemies I will slay, "Bring you their spines, their hearts, their minds, but never without pay.” |
