Born on the eve of the Renaissance era, the Giovanni household traces its lineage back to the merchant princes of Venice. No other vampiric clan makes such a spectacle of humility and propriety as do they. Likewise no other clan hides its blasphemous secrets and forbidden arts as well.

According to tales whispered throughout covens of this realm, the Giovanni`s money spoiled the family as these Venetians turned to Necromancy out of perverse boredom. Surprisingly enough the family demonstrated an unseen aptitude in trafficking with the dead that their newfound abilities caught the eye of an ancient yet forgotten vampire. This kindred embraced the head of the family, Augustus Giovanni, and brought him into the world of the damned. This particular vampire, legend says, had a profound interest in death and the embrace of the Giovanni house was intended to further the ancient`s knowledge of what lies beyond the vale of mortality.

The ancient`s plan worked better than anticipated although in a different manner than he had intended. Augustus, a cutthroat and pragmatic mercenary, saw the opportunity to seize his sire`s doddering power and did so in a most brutal fashion. After drinking the vampire`s life blood and very soul, Augustus founded and elevated the Giovanni family to great clan status within the kindred community.

An atrocity amongst the vampire race, the "Devil Kindred" Giovanni in recent nights have been hunted and destroyed by other undead wherever found. Sequestering themselves in the most remote regions of humanity, the Giovanni, for the time being, has averted the imminent genocide. Selling its services as brokers of information, the harvesting of gold and souls alike within the Giovanni family have made the clan a eminent force to be reckoned with.

As a member of the Giovanni household both through familial ties and blood, the character Cervante D`Aristide Di Giovanni plays an important role in the clan which is overseen by the founder Augustus himself. A malifecar of both Necromancy and Blood Magic, this vampire has been tasked with investigating the troubling rumors of a "Dark Mother`s emergence" from the lands of the East. As Aesop`s ant, Cervante is preparing himself for the End of Days while others continue to mire themselves within their foolish and ultimately inconsequential pursuits. For if these reports of the Mother Lilith and "The Twilight Child" are true, cold times are indeed coming sooner than most are willing to believe.
