New Server Ordered!

I'm happy to announce that an even faster Reign Of Blood is on the way! The current Reign Of Blood server purchased in 2019 now has some software that's becoming end-of-life, and while this can just be updated, I took the time to mull over upgrading to a new sparkly server rather than toying with the current one. You might not realise, but the bottlenecks Reign Of Blood faces are I/O speeds, not CPU and RAM, so that's the focus for this upgrade, as well as upgrades across the board. For the spec nerds, this server purchased in 2019 has the following:

16 cores at 3.2GHz (boost to 3.7GHz)

128GB of RAM (DDR4 2666MHZ 4x32GB)

2x 1.6TB NVMe SSDs

1Gbps NIC

The new server ordered has the following specifications:

16 cores at 4.10GHz (boost to 4.4GHz)

192GB RAM (DDR5 4800MHz 12x16GB)

2x 3.2TB NVMe SSDs (needed for performance rather than capacity)

10Gbps NIC

The current SSDs have a read IOPS of 643,000 and a write IOPS of 199,000. The new SSDs have a read IOPS of 1,000,000 and a write IOPS of 390,000. It should be quite the jump!
