What Are Vampire Covens? How To Find One And How They Work

In vampire lore, covens are the power structures that have allowed vampires to survive and thrive across centuries. In Reign Of Blood, they are one of the most important features in the game - and joining one early can make a significant difference to how quickly your vampire grows. This page covers what covens are in vampire mythology, how they work in Reign Of Blood, and why finding the right one matters.

What Are Vampire Covens In Lore?

In vampire mythology and fiction, a coven is a group of vampires who have chosen to exist together under a shared structure. The word itself predates vampire fiction - it has roots in witchcraft traditions - but it was adopted into vampire lore to describe the political groupings that immortal creatures naturally form over time. Vampires, for all their individual power, are social and hierarchical beings in most traditions. Surviving alone is possible, but surviving as part of a coven is considerably more effective.

Covens in fiction tend to have strict internal hierarchies, shared territories, and codes of conduct that members are expected to follow. They offer protection, resources, and collective power that individual vampires cannot match alone. In return, members contribute their own strength to the group - through loyalty, skill, or the simple fact of adding to the coven's numbers. The more powerful the coven, the more it can offer its members, and the more it demands from them in return.

That dynamic - mutual benefit, collective power, and internal politics - is exactly what makes covens compelling in fiction and in games. A vampire acting alone is dangerous. A coven of vampires acting together is something far more significant.

How Do I Find A Coven?

If you are searching for how to find a coven, the answer depends on where you are playing. In most vampire games covens - sometimes called clans, guilds, or houses depending on the game - are listed somewhere accessible from the main navigation. What you are looking for is a group that matches your playstyle, has active members, and is willing to take on newer players. In Reign Of Blood, finding a coven is straightforward. You can browse all available covens through the Coven tab or visit the Coven Hall in Dead City, where each coven has its own application page. The Coven Advertising Thread lists covens actively recruiting, which makes it easy to compare what different groups offer before committing to one.

What Are Covens In Reign Of Blood?

In Reign Of Blood, covens function similarly to clans or guilds in other online games - groups of vampires who work together towards common goals, pooling their efforts to benefit every member. They are one of the most important features in the game, particularly for newer players, and joining one as early as possible is strongly recommended.

The benefits of coven membership are immediate and practical. Most covens offer free stat boosts as the coven levels up, with all members gaining strength or toughness from relics. Equipment loans are common - most covens will lend weapons and armour to newer members who cannot yet afford their own. Coven forums are packed with tips, quest help, and game knowledge from experienced players who have been in the game for years. Daily coven quests earn you extra money and experience on top of your standard daily quests, accelerating your progression from the very beginning.

It is also worth understanding that the relationship works both ways. You are not just a new vampire looking for help - you are a valuable addition to any coven you join. You contribute experience through quests, wars, and battles, and covens actively want new members just as much as new vampires need them. Walking into a coven as a beginner is not asking for a favour. It is a genuine exchange.

Coven Conflicts - Wars, Brawls, And More

Covens in Reign Of Blood are not passive groupings - they compete against each other through a range of conflict systems that keep the game world active and give members regular goals to work towards.

Coven Wars run twice weekly. One war is chosen by your coven, one is assigned at random. Members attack other vampires to earn War Score for their coven, with rewards distributed at the end. Wars are one of the most consistent sources of coven activity and are where reputations between rival covens are built and tested over time.

Coven Brawls take place once a week, placing your coven on a separate battlefield where members use allocated Brawl Turns to compete for score. Brawls reward consistent participation and give every member a direct way to contribute to the coven's standing regardless of their individual rank.

Coven Treaties happen once a month, bringing multiple covens together into a treaty arrangement where they compete for score over the course of the event. Treaties offer some of the largest QP rewards available from coven conflict - up to 50 QP per month for active participants.

Coven Raids are short daily sneak attacks where your coven targets unprepared rivals to steal tokens and currency. They reward covens that stay organised and active between the larger scheduled conflicts.

Coven Surges and Coven Rumbles are larger scale events that run on select months. Surges see covens competing in hourly rounds over an extended period. Rumbles are elimination-style events where covens are knocked out as the competition progresses. Both offer significant rewards and are among the most intense coven conflict experiences in the game.

Battlegrounds And Power Relics

Beyond the conflict events, covens compete for Battleground slots - positions in War, Brawl, and Alpha battlegrounds that provide ongoing boosts to the covens that hold them. Holding a Battleground slot gives your coven a persistent advantage that carries through into everything else you do.

Power Relics add another layer of coven strategy. Covens can steal and hold Power Relics that provide boosts to all members throughout the game - not just during events, but continuously. The more Relics your coven holds, the stronger every member becomes. Holding them makes your coven a target. Losing them means finding a way to take them back.

How Do I Join A Coven?

Joining a coven is a personal choice - both the decision to join one and the decision of which one to join. You can browse available covens through the Coven tab in the game or by visiting the Coven Hall in Dead City, where each coven has an application page with information about what they offer and what they expect from members.

The Coven Advertising Thread is also worth checking - covens post there to make their case for why you should join them, which gives you a clear picture of what different covens prioritise and what kind of community they have built. Some covens are focused on competition and conflict. Others prioritise roleplay, community, or supporting newer players. Finding one that fits how you want to play makes a significant difference to how much you get out of membership.

If you have not yet created your vampire, now is the time. Once you are in the game, finding a coven should be one of your first priorities - the benefits kick in immediately, and the community you find there will shape your experience of Reign Of Blood from the very beginning.
